Kwasy DHA dla dzieci – co dają i czy warto je podawać?

Kwasy omega-3, w tym kwasy DHA, mają pozytywny wpływ na rozwój układu nerwowego dziecka już na etapie życia płodowego. Z tego względu warto wiedzieć, jak dostarczać je dziecku w odpowiednich ilościach. Gdzie znajdują się kwasy DHA i jaką ich ilość powinno otrzymywać dziecko?

Czym są kwasy DHA?

Kwas DHA, czyli kwas dokozaheksaenowy, zaliczany jest do wielonienasyconych kwasów tłuszczowych omega-3. Są to związki egzogenne, a więc takie, które muszą być dostarczane do organizmu wraz z pożywieniem, gdyż komórki ludzkie nie są w stanie same syntetyzować tych związków. 

Kwasy DHA odgrywają kluczą rolę w prawidłowym rozwoju płodu, szczególnie na etapie II. i III. trymestru ciąży. Stanowią one nie tylko jeden z głównych elementów budulcowych błon komórkowych, ale także siatkówki oka czy neuronów. Liczne badania udowodniły, że niedobór kwasów DHA w życiu płodowym istotnie zmniejszał zdolności poznawcze dzieci, co związane było z niższym poziomem IQ, a także zauważalnie pogarszał ostrość ich widzenia. 

Z tego powodu, Polskie Towarzystwo Ginekologów i Położników zaleca, aby każda kobieta w trakcie trwania ciąży suplementowała kwasy DHA w odpowiedniej dawce. Z kolei towarzystwa pediatryczne skonstruowały zalecania, co do ilości przyjmowanych wraz z dietą kwasów omega-3.

Gdzie znajdują się kwasy DHA?

Kwasy DHA nie są syntezowane przez komórki ludzkiego organizmu i musza być dostarczane wraz z przyjmowanym pożywieniem. Wśród źródeł bogatych w kwas dokozaheksaenowy wymienia się m.in.:

  • ryby morskie,
  • owoce morza,
  • algi,
  • olej rybi.

W trakcie pierwszych miesięcy życia dziecka kwasy DHA dostarczane są wraz z mlekiem matki lub sztuczną mieszanką. Z tego względu zalecenia obowiązujące w Polsce podkreślają konieczność suplementacji tego związku przez kobiety karmiące piersią, natomiast wszystkie dostępne na rynku mieszanki wzbogacone są w odpowiednią ilość kwasów DHA, co uregulowane jest przez normy prawne.

Na co pomagają kwasy DHA?

Na początkowym etapie życia jak i w okresie życia prenatalnego, kwasy DHA oraz inne kwasy omega-3 odpowiedzialne są przede wszystkim za rozwój układu nerwowego oraz siatkówki oka. W przypadku ich niedoborów, zauważalne są konkretne problemy neurologiczne u dzieci na późniejszym etapie życia. 

W przypadku osób dorosłych, kwasy DHA działają przeciwzapalnie, przeciwzakrzepowo, przeciwmiażdżycowo, antyarytmicznie, a także obniżają poziom trójglicerydów we krwi. Co więcej, coraz częściej mówi się o ich wpływie na przewodnictwo serotoninergiczne oraz dopaminergiczne, dzięki czemu mają również działanie antydepresyjne. Aktualnie prowadzone są badania dotyczące wpływu DHA na leczenie choroby Alzheimera.

Jakie DHA dla dzieci?

Według zaleceń ekspertów, zapotrzebowanie na kwasy DHA dla dzieci powinno być zaspokajane przez odpowiednio zbilansowaną dietę. Zapotrzebowanie na wspomniany związek organiczny wynosi od 100-250 mg w zależności od wieku dziecka. By ją dostarczyć organizmowi powinno się jeść 1-2 porcje ryby tygodniowo. Ważne jest jednak, by kobiety ciężarne, a także karmiące piersią, uzupełniały kwasy omega-3 stosując dodatkową suplementację. Dzięki temu, niemowlę otrzymuje wraz z pokarmem kobiecym odpowiednią ilość kwasów organicznych. 

Niestety, według Wieloośrodkowego Ogólnopolskiego Badania Stanu Zdrowia Ludności (WOBASZ), Polska jest krajem narażonym na niedobór DHA w związku ze zbyt niskim spożyciem ryb oraz produktów bogatych w kwasy DHA. Z tego względu w szczególny sposób zadbaj o to, aby maluszek jak i dziecko starsze otrzymywało odpowiednie i zalecane ilości ryb w diecie.

Ile DHA dla dzieci?

Rozkład zapotrzebowania na DHA dla dzieci wygląda następująco:

  • dzieci od 7. do 24. miesiąca życia – wyłącznie DHA w ilości 100 mg dziennie,
  • dzieci powyżej 2. roku życia oraz dorośli – 250 mg DHA + EPA dziennie,
  • kobiety w ciąży i karmiące piersią powinny przyjmować minimum 200 mg DHA a w przypadku niskiego spożycia ryb 400-600 mg DHA. Szczególnie ważna jest suplementacja u kobiet w ciąży z ryzykiem przedwczesnego porodu, wówczas rekomenduje się zwiększenie dawki nawet do 1000 mg DHA dziennie.

Wymienione ilości dostarczane są w odpowiednich ilościach wraz z pokarmem w przypadku spożywania 1-2 porcji zalecanych ryb tygodniowo.
